Who we are

PositionCalc (positioncalc.com) provides free trading calculators for educational and informational purposes. We are not a financial adviser, broker, or regulated entity. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.

What data we collect

Analytics data (automatically collected)

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. This collects: pages visited, time on page, device type, browser, approximate country (not precise location), and referral source. IP addresses are anonymised before storage. We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information via analytics.

Email addresses (if you sign up)

If you opt in to our mailing list, we collect your email address and the calculator you were using when you signed up. We use this only to send trading tips and product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.

Affiliate click data (anonymous)

When you click an affiliate link, we log the link clicked, the page you clicked from, a timestamp, and an anonymous session identifier. No personally identifiable information is stored in these logs.

Calculator inputs (not stored by default)

Calculator inputs you enter are processed in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers. If you use a "Save calculation" feature (where available), inputs are stored in Supabase against an anonymous or authenticated session.

Cookies

We use the following cookies:

  • Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _gid, _gat) — track page views and sessions. These are set by google-analytics.com. You can opt out via Google's opt-out tool.
  • Session cookies — short-lived cookies to maintain your calculator state within a session. These expire when you close your browser.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect how some features work.

Third-party services

  • Google Analytics — web analytics. Data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We have Data Processing Addendum in place with Google.
  • Supabase — database for saved calculations and email leads. Data is stored in the EU region. Supabase is SOC 2 Type 2 certified. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
  • Affiliate networks — when you click a sponsored broker link, the affiliate network (e.g. Impact, Commission Junction) may set cookies to track conversions. See each broker's privacy policy for details.

How we use your data

  • To understand how the site is used and improve it (analytics)
  • To send you emails you have explicitly opted into (email addresses)
  • To maintain affiliate attribution for commission reporting (click logs)
  • To provide saved calculation functionality (if you use it)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or UK, you have the following rights:

  • Access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
  • Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from emails at any time; withdraw analytics consent via cookie settings
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests

Data retention

  • Analytics data: retained for 26 months per Google Analytics default settings
  • Email addresses: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
  • Affiliate click logs: retained for 13 months (one full attribution window)
  • Saved calculations: retained until you delete them or request account deletion

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
